Minecraft PE 1.20.30 Official Version Released

Minecraft is one of the most popular and influential games of all time, with over 200 million copies sold and more than 100 million monthly active players¹. It is a sandbox game that allows you to create, explore, and survive in a procedurally generated world made of blocks. You can play solo or with friends, in creative mode or survival mode, and on various platforms, including mobile devices.

What is Minecraft PE?

Minecraft PE, or Minecraft Pocket Edition, is the mobile version of Minecraft that runs on Android and iOS devices. It was first released in 2011 as a limited alpha version, and has since evolved into a full-fledged game that is compatible with the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, which also runs on Windows 10, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4².

Minecraft PE has many features that make it suitable for mobile gaming, such as touch controls, cross-play with other platforms, online multiplayer, achievements, skins, add-ons, marketplace, realms, servers, and more³. It also receives regular updates that add new content, features, and bug fixes.

What's new in Minecraft PE 1.20.30?

Minecraft PE 1.20.30 is the latest official version of the game that was released on September 19, 2023⁴. It is part of the Trails & Tails update that brings several changes and improvements to the game. Here are some of the highlights:

Updated "You died" experience

One of the most noticeable changes in this update is the new screen you see when you die in Minecraft. The camera now zooms out so you can see why you died, the hotbar is visible at all times, and you can change certain settings before respawning. These changes are available to everyone, except if you have add-ons applied.

The new screen also has limited text formatting code support, so it might look a bit different depending on your language settings. To use the old screen, go to Settings -> Video, and turn off ‘New “You Died” Screen (Experimental)’. The developers would love to hear your feedback about this change, so feel free to share your thoughts with them here.

Crawling under 1 block gaps

Another new feature in this update is the ability to crawl under 1 block gaps. This means you can squeeze through small spaces that were previously inaccessible, such as under trapdoors, beds, or pistons. This can be useful for exploring hidden areas, escaping from enemies, or creating secret passages.

To crawl under a 1 block gap, you need to be in a situation where your height is reduced, such as swimming, flying with elytra, or being affected by a potion of shrinking. Then you just need to move towards the gap and you will automatically start crawling.

Recipe unlocking and searching

Recipe unlocking is no longer an experimental feature in this update, but can still be turned on and off per world. This feature allows you to unlock new recipes in your recipe book by collecting items related to them. For example, if you find some iron ore, you will unlock the recipe for iron ingots. You can also enable recipe unlocking on the Create New World screen.

The recipe book search has also been updated when playing in survival mode with the following changes:

- The search will only match the beginning of any word in the item's name.

- The search will only show recipes that you have unlocked or that are always available.

- The search will prioritize recipes that you can craft with your current inventory.

Diamond ore generation

Diamond ore is one of the most valuable and rare resources in Minecraft, as it is used to craft the strongest tools, weapons, and armor in the game. In this update, the amount of diamond ore found in the deepest parts of the world has been increased, making it easier to find and mine.

The new diamond ore generation is based on the noise caves feature that was introduced in the Caves & Cliffs update. This means that diamond ore can now spawn in clusters of different shapes and sizes, rather than in single veins. The clusters can also be exposed to air or water, making them more visible.

To find diamond ore in this update, you need to dig down to the negative y-levels, below y=0. The lower you go, the more likely you are to find diamond ore. The highest concentration of diamond ore is at y=-64, where you can find up to 4 clusters per chunk. However, be careful of the dangers that lurk in the deep dark, such as wardens, sculk sensors, and deepslate.

Bug fixes and performance improvements

As usual, this update also fixes over 100 community reported issues that affect various aspects of the game, such as blocks, items, mobs, entities, world generation, commands, user interface, graphics, sound, and more. Some of the most notable fixes and improvements are:

- Fixed a crash that could occur when loading into a world with a large number of entities
