New World - The world now holds a total of 13 biomes (counting Nether) and new creatures have been added to the game. In addition to this, new items including tools, potions, and weapons are included.
Survival Mode - You can now survive indefinitely in survival mode without dying! If you die, you'll respawn at your last known location.
New Features - Several new features were implemented:
- Added blocks which allow players to create fences and bridges.
- Added a variety of new items including torches, lanterns, and crafting tables.
- Added several new mobs including zombies, creeper/blaze spawners, skeletons, wolves, spiders, and ghasts.
- Added five new biomes which include lava, water, snow, plains, and swamp.
- Added various new recipes for armor, clothing, food, and weapons.
- Added various improvements to gameplay including the ability to craft a bed, a door, stairs, a chest, a furnace, and a signpost.
- Added many new achievements to unlock.
- Bug Fixes - Numerous bugs were fixed.
- Fixed several issues related to crafting and storage including a bug that prevented smelting iron ingots to make iron bars and causing some wooden planks to break after being hit by TNT blasts. Other fixes include fixing a bug that caused wood to not decay and prevent certain mob spawns from working properly, a bug that caused zombie villagers to stop spawning, and adding a number of fixes relating to stonework.
